Ganciclovir is an antiviral medication used to treat cytomegalovirus infections. Ganciclovir is indicated in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age for the treatment of cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease in immunocompromised patients and for prevention of CMV disease in patients with drug-induced immunosuppression. Consideration should be given to official guidance on the use of antiviral agents
